Jane Wairutu

Manager: Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL)

Jane Wairutu is a trained sociologist, she holds a degree in Sociology and Political Science from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, she is also certified in Monitoring and Evaluation through the Kenya Institute of Management Studies. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Development studies at the Mount Kenya University.

Jane has been supporting the communities living within informal settlements for more than 8 years in Kenya and has been involved in developing and implementing both quantitative and qualitative tools for community led research and advocacy towards upgrading or informal settlements within Kenya. She has been able to lead in training and conducting profiling and enumeration in over 100 settlements in both Kenya and several SDI affiliate countries. She has also been a project officer and supported in generating tools for reporting, monitoring and evaluating community led projects that are implemented by the urban poor in Kenya e.g Housing, Land, youth. Jane has been instrumental in building partnerships with government, academia and partner institutions. Youth inclusion through empowerment has also been her passion in all programs and projects at the community level.

Currently Jane serves a Programs Manager where she does the overall coordination role during implementation of projects, supports the project design team in projects initiated by communities through various agencies both state and non-state actors. Her other oversight role is on projects, learning, monitoring and evaluation at SDI-Kenya.
